MUP Settings

Configure your Minimum Unit Pricing settings from the MUP Settings page in the app.

Accessing Settings

  1. Navigate to the app in Shopify Admin
  2. Click "MUP Settings" in the navigation menu

Settings Overview

Enforcement Settings

Enable MUP Enforcement - ✅ Checked: MUP rules are enforced for Scotland customers - ☐ Unchecked: MUP enforcement is disabled (useful for testing)

When disabled, levy charges will not be added and validation will not block checkout.

Pricing Configuration

Minimum Unit Price (£ per unit) - Default: 0.65 (Scotland's legal minimum) - Enter as a decimal number - This is the minimum price per alcohol unit that must be charged

Levy Product Variant ID - The variant ID of the product used to add levy charges - Can be created automatically using the "Create Levy Product" button - Format: Can be a full GID (gid://shopify/ProductVariant/123) or just the numeric ID (123)

Creating the Levy Product

If you don't have a levy product yet:

  1. Click the "Create Levy Product" button next to the Levy Product Variant ID field
  2. The app will automatically:
  3. Create a product titled "MUP Levy"
  4. Set it up as a "Fee" product type
  5. Publish it to your Online Store
  6. Save the variant ID to settings

The levy product is used to add MUP charges as child line items in customer carts.

Saving Settings

After making changes:

  1. Click "Save Settings" at the bottom of the form
  2. Wait for the success message
  3. Settings are immediately active

Additional Actions

From the MUP Settings page, you can also:

  • Setup Metafields: Click "Setup Metafields" in the secondary actions to create all required metafield definitions
  • Health Check: Navigate to the Health Check page to scan products for missing data
  • Documentation: View the complete documentation

Important Notes

  • Settings are saved to Shopify shop metafields
  • Changes take effect immediately
  • The levy product must be published to the Online Store sales channel
  • Minimum unit price should match your legal requirements (default is £0.65 for Scotland)

Troubleshooting

Settings not saving? - Check that you have admin permissions - Verify your Shopify connection is active - Try refreshing the page and saving again

Levy product not working? - Ensure the product is published to Online Store - Verify the variant ID is correct - Check that the product is not archived or draft
